Sizing for Crocheted Headbands

Sizing for crocheted headbands can be a tricky thing.  I was asked to make some headbands, but no matter what I did, they kept coming out too big and too loose.  I was stumped as I was using the measured size of the head.

After much trial and error, I have found a solution to this tricky situation!  When sizing, go for a size that is two inches less than the measured circumference of the head as yarn has give to it and you want the headband to fit snuggly and not be too big and loose for the wearer.

  • US terms are used
  • Sample is made using four colors – it is the crocheter’s choice to use multiple colors, a single color, etc.
